Large prints on slipcovered furniture can really make a room - in this oceanfront living room, I used a large scale flower-and-vine fabric for a pair of club chairs in fitted slipcovers.
I added a round ottoman on wheels, which saves floor space and is easy to share. An adjoining sofa has a large rectangular storage ottoman instead of a coffee table, which we slipcovered in Outdura canvas. The room's pair of sofas were also slipcovered in outdoor fabric - very important resist fading in this sun-filled space. The striped rug pulls it all together.
Printed fabrics can be quite forgiving of spots and smudges between washings, and in a large room they give a pop of personality. Here's the rest of the seating area:
And just to spur your creativity, some more patterned slipcovers:
You don't have to live in a home with important architectural details or grand rooms to have a home with character. Try an eye-catching fabric instead as a focal point. If you find a patterned fabric you love, don't just use it as an accent - cover your sofa!
