Thanks to Meredith Tulley of Charleston, SC for sharing these photos of a slipcover she made for a client using our Ireland Gray tweed.
Love the choice of fabric for this minimal, modern chair style.
The chair was a bit soiled and the cover couldn't be removed, so a slipcover was the right thing to do! Meredith also shared her pattern making and fitting process, using muslin and paper and then pin-fitting the pieces.
This is a great way to ensure clean, crisp tailoring for a modern piece, instead of the looser, shabby-chic look. She also French-seamed the slipcover which is a nice detail (similar to top-stitching) that looks better on this chair than piping. It also keeps raveling in check when the cover is washed.
The finished project looks great!
Thanks Meredith for sharing! It's great to see how the fabrics look made up into slipcovers. Visit our Workrooms page for Meredith's contact info and a list of more slipcover seamstresses.
